Stem mastering

Send the stereo mix first. If stems are the right option, I will tell you what to export.

A little more
control.

Choose stem mastering when the mix is close but a few balances still need work.

You send a small set of grouped stems. It gives me more control than stereo mastering.

  • The vocal needs a small balance change
  • The drums and bass need separate control
  • Stereo mastering cannot solve the last issue

How it works

Send the stereo mix first.

Stereo mix

I listen and confirm whether stem mastering makes sense.

Stems

You export the grouped stems I ask for.

Listen together

I send the master. You listen and send any notes before I prepare the final files.

What you get

  • Refined balance from your grouped stems
  • Full resolution final master
  • MP3 listening copy
  • A recommendation if mixing is the better route

Why Stem Mastering?

Stem mastering gives me more control than a traditional stereo master, without going all the way into a full mix.

Instead of sending me just one stereo file, you send grouped stems like:

  • Drums

  • Bass

  • Vocals

  • Guitars

  • Keys

This lets me balance elements more precisely, tighten dynamics, and bring out the character of the track, especially useful if:

You mixed the song yourself and want a second pair of ears

Your track sounds close but not quite “finished”

You want to avoid the full cost of a mix session

It’s a great middle ground: more detailed than stereo mastering, less time-intensive than full mixing.
